Major Lazer — Diplo’s reggae alter-ego — does it again with “Powerful” featuring Ellie Goulding and Tarrus Riley. It’s a potent mix of pop, EDM and reggae of the variety that only Major Lazer can concoct. “Powerful” doesn’t begin to describe it. It’s like a shot of extra strength, high potency adrenaline straight into your heart. Not that I’ve ever experienced that. But I saw Pulp Fiction at the cinema 13 times during the full year it was at cinemas, so that’s got to count for something, right? Anyway, I think this is my favorite Major Lazer single to date and you’re liable to like it even if you hate reggae, which I say because it barely sounds reggae to my ears.
