#songoftheday / REVIEW: JAMES BAY – “SCARS”

James Bay is one of today’s most promising singer/songwriters, as you can hear while watching the black and white video for his song “Scars” above.

Simply put, James is a genius when it comes to his insightful and brutally honest lyrics and his simple but potent guitar playing.  And when you add his vocals to the mix, well, you have something brilliant in every sense of the word.

Oh, those vocals…  His soulful voice is just the right amount of raw to make it sink its hooks into you, rendering his songs all the more emotive… Meanwhile, his voice is also smooth enough that anyone should be able to access it.

Suffice to say, this guy should be unstoppable.  Here’s hoping he achieves the kind of success that Hozier is having right now but with the longevity of Jack White’s career.
