#songoftheday = Panic! At The Disco: “Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time”

To be honest, I do not think Panic! At The Disco’s latest album, Death Of A Bachelor, is nearly as good as the previous album, Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die!, but “Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time” is one of the best songs on the record, if not the very best.  It’s really too bad that Brendon Urie didn’t work with Butch Walker on the new album.  Butch not only produced To Weird To Live, To Rare To Die!, he co-wrote the songs and played many of the instruments on it.  Panic! is basically just Brendon Urie these days, but on Too Rare it was more of a duo with Butch being an unofficial member.  Anyway, “Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time” is in the vein of the Butch Walker collaborations, which is probably why I like it.  The rest of the album just sounds like mainstream pop fodder to me.  Not that I have any problem with that.  I mean, hell, I’m a Katy Perry and Selena Gomez fan.  But when you know someone like Brendon is capable of brilliance it’s frustrating when they release something that is less than.  “Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time” is our #songoftheday today for being one of the rare, shining moments on Death Of A Bachelor and because the video is highly entertaining.
