“Staring at your own reflection / thinking of the things that you’ve done / you’re hoping for a change of direction / or maybe just a place in the sun,” goes the first part of the chorus to She Wants Revenge’s exquisite comeback single, “Big Love.”  But before the pensive song reaches that point, and you’re instructed to “get your big love on,” it begins with slamming beats and a nighttime drive, the sort that could be just another night or one that could change your life.  “Don’t know where you’re going / but it feels so right,” sings frontman Justin Warfield, ever the storyteller, a bit later.  By that point, you’ll find yourself thinking that “Big Love” is the best song you’ve heard in months.  Or maybe you’ll be thinking about other things that the lyrics stirred up in you. Regardless, you’re sure to love this if you like catchy dance rock songs.

This song reminds me of midnight driving up route one — along the coast — from Hampton Beach in New Hampshire all the way to the beaches in Maine.  It’s a long drive, and it’s full of dangerous twists and turns, but I’ve rarely felt as alive as I have during those drives.  It felt like anything could happen.  It could be good or it could be disastrous, but you felt like you were on the brink of something and it kept you hyper-alert.  I get similar feelings while listening to this song.  It makes me feel like I’m on the edge of something, perhaps about to enter a secret, underground dance club where I’m going to have the night of my life.  It’s rare that you find a song this exhilarating and I can’t wait to hear an entire new album by Warfield and co-conspirator Adam Bravin.
