#songoftheday = alt-J – “Adeline”

As you probably have figured out by now, most of our song of the day selections are chosen because they’re catchy.  It’s almost an unwritten rule that we only select the most infectious tunes we come across.  There are exceptions to this rule and today is one such exception.  Today’s song of the day, alt-J’s just released single “Adeline,” is epic and moody and downright intoxicating.  It comes on like a drug, starting off so subtle you barely notice it.  But it creeps up on you, building into something powerful, something that could knock you out.  Something that blows your mind. And just as it peaks in your head, it comes to a sudden end.  Then you’re hooked and want to experience it again and again.  This isn’t a sing-along song, not by a long-shot.  It’s a brilliant, sonic piece of art that commands you to study it.

Pre-order alt-J’s new album, Relaxer, on Amazon.  The new album will be released June 2 via Canvasback Music.
